Īkshay made his first appearance in 1991 alongside Raakhee in the movie Sugandh. With immense hard work and determination, he has now become one of the top actors in the Bollywood industry. One of his students’ father recommended that he should go for modelling, and hence, he decided to pursue that. With his return to Bombay, he started teaching martial arts.
Upon completing his learnings and obtaining a black belt in Taekwondo, Kumar returned to India, lived in different cities and worked very hard to earn money and make a career.
Along with his learnings, he worked as a waiter and chef in Thailand. After sufficient funds, Kumar went to Bangkok for five years and learned Thai Boxing and martial arts. He put forward his request of learning martial arts to his father, and seeing the passion in his eyes, his father agreed and started saving money to send him to Thailand. He dropped out because he didn’t have much interest in studies, rather, he was interested in making a career out of sports. Later, he enrolled in Guru Nanak Khalsa College to pursue his higher studies. He had done his schooling from Don Bosco High School, Matunga while also learning karate. He lived and grew up in Chandni Chowk, Delhi and later shifted to Mumbai. From a young age, Akshay had a keen interest in sports. His father, Hari Om Bhatia, was an army officer, and his mother, Aruna Bhatia, was a home-maker.
